Rabbit Hole

Families are often annoying

With their ‘know it all ways’,

Families moan about this and that

Short on accolades and praise.

Families can be unforgiving

Meanspirited, somewhat stern,

Families involve themselves unnecessarily

In matters of no concern.

Families ought to be escaped from

You should run away and be free,

Often families become preoccupied with the ‘Us’

Rather than the ‘Me’.

Yet families are also your safe retreat

Considered your heart and soul,

A sanctuary when the going gets tough

A secure blanket, a rabbit hole.
