Have you given any thought to the hard centre of a Kiwi,
Waiting for it to ripen makes the outside flesh too soft.
A pineapple, so hardcore needs chopping,
Until only a third is worth eating,
An Avocado, the huge hard stone innermost
Needs removing, skin peeling, green-fingered.
And what about your heart, harder than diamonds,
Without the sparkle, or worth.
No chance of overripening or
Going soft for the cause,
Romance abandoned, all else fails
When you have a heart harder than nails.
